π Today's World News: Iran Rains Missiles on Israel
Published: June 22, 2025
In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iran launched a barrage of over 30 missiles targeting central Israel just after midnight. The missiles, fired in two successive waves, struck within a tight 20-minute window, causing alarm across Tel Aviv and its suburbs. Iranian state media labeled the strikes as part of a new strategic doctrine in response to Zionist aggression.
Shortly after the attack, Iran’s military issued a stern warning to the United States: “Any military intervention, especially against the Fordow nuclear facility, will trigger retaliatory strikes against all American bases and assets across the Middle East.”
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded by targeting Iran’s Khojir missile facility near Tehran, previously struck in October 2024. While Iran downplayed the attack as symbolic, analysts suggest it signals a shift in Israel’s counter-deterrence policy.
Meanwhile, Iran reported successfully intercepting explosive-laden drones over the cities of Dezful, Shushtar, and Andimeshk. No casualties were reported, but the threat of drone warfare appears to be expanding.
Both nations are now publicly redefining their red lines, and global observers fear the conflict may spill beyond the region if diplomatic efforts are not revived soon.
